Her story started at 3 months old, on February 7, 2004, when she was diagnosed with Infant Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She was a tricky one, and 2 of her chromosomes traded places so she needed to have a Bone Marrow Transplant. Myself, her daddy and her big sister Olivia were all tested, but none of us were a match. A cord blood from Milan, Italy was found and it was a perfect match! On June 23, 2004, Melina had her cord blood transplant. She was almost 8 months old.
Melina was responding well to the transplant and there was talk of her coming home, but then things changed. With the chemo, RSV, paraflu and radiation, Melina's little body took a beating. She ended up in the PICU fighting for her life. On September 7, 2004, at 10 months old, Melina became an angel.

Over the last 13 years, we have helped 100's of families and given away tens of thousands of dollars! All in memory of our Melina. We have also registered hundreds of people onto the National Bone Registry.
Our mission statement is simple ~ we help families whose kids have cancer here in Colorado.

The Fore Melina Golf Tournament was put together in 2004 while Melina was still alive by some of our best friends to raise money to help us with growing medical costs. Unfortunately, Melina passed away 3 weeks before it was held. I don't really remember how it went! We skipped the next year because I had given birth to our 3rd child. Then, with so many still wanting to help us, we started our consecutive years! We have been incredibly blessed to have some amazing people continue to support what we do! Between our loyal players, our amazing sponsors (many of which continue with us) and our fabulous volunteers, we have stayed successful! We earn more and more money every year which helps me to continue to help so many families! This year is our 17th year!
